GENERAL INFORMATION ON PLANNING AHEAD RESOURCES

In February 2012, the NSW Government launched a website called Planning Ahead Tools. This includes a number of planning ahead resources for the community. This website covers Wills, Powers of Attorney, Advanced Health Care Directives, and Guardianship.

The State Library of NSW has a commitment to producing high quality information resources on legal topics, and have produced a set of different information topics on the Legal Answers website. These topics include Wills, EstatesPowers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship, and Funerals.

TEMPLATES AND FORMS

The NSW Guardianship Tribunal has current prescribed forms relating to Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and Enduring Guardianship, and the relevant forms for revocation of these documents.

LEGAL ADVICE

Mid North Coast Community Legal Centre (t. 6580 2111) provides advice in a range of areas of law affecting vulnerable communities in the Kempsey Shire, Greater Taree, and Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Government Areas.

The Seniors Rights Service (incorporating the Older Persons Legal Service) (t. 1800 424 079) provides free legal advice, assistance, referrals and education for people over 60 who are socially or financially disadvantaged.

Cancer Council NSW Legal and Financial Planning Referral Services (t. 13 11 20) can provide referrals to private solicitors who may be able to draft reduced or no cost wills for people living with cancer subject to a means test.

The NSW Law Society Solicitor Referral Service (t. 9926 0300) provides referrals to private practitioners who can draft wills and other important documents.
